Summer Joy

Ah, sweet summer vacation. We drag our weary teacher bodies away from an incredibly hard school year, leaving RIF notices, program cuts, and district politics behind us.

Begone difficult school year! And hello to summer. A chance to rest. To recharge. To reconnect with our little ones. We delve into the reverie of sunshine and free time.

We celebrate the time to play with Jonas and Jember!

A visit to our neighborhood water park
We take an outing every day. There are so many awesome parks in our town. Fairhaven park is blocks form our house. Not only a great place to play, but a water park in the summer!

(No. I did not realize our local park was also a water park too.)
(Yes. Those are my happy kids running around in their street clothes in the water fountains).
(Yes. Next time I will bring our swim suits and towels...promise).

Maple Falls, WA
We love visiting our dear friends - Sue and Shirley. They live in a cabin up near Mt. Baker. The beauty of their home and their life together is sublime. Babies love it there as much as we do. They run in open meadows of wildflowers, pick sun-ripe strawberries and experience the freedom of playing in nature. We LOVE Sue and Shirley!!!

"We want more!" (Notice Jember hand-signing for more)

We hope your summer is going well too! Stay tuned for more updates. My parents (Grandpa Bud and Grandma Sharon) will be here soon for a good visit. And in 2 weeks Jonas must take a break and get "tubes" put in his ears. After months of endless infection and antibiotics we are taking this step. We'll keep you posted! Until then:

Happy summer everyone!!

First Haircut

Before
(Yep. He had been playing in a mud puddle...and loving every minute of it.)

He likes show tunes really. I think he is playing something from "Hair".

Zora's Hair Salon
He sat on daddys lap the whole time.

Jember gives her ideas on how to cut his hair.

Who is that handsome guy?

Jember loves the new look!! Hooray!

After
A serious boy with a new haircut. He's still thinking about the buzzing clippers!

"Ok. Enough photos! Lets go!"

Takin' a walk downtown.
(Gotta show off that new hair cut!)

All ready for summer!

A Tale of Two Imps

Here at Camp Chaney, mischief runs rampant. And some days are more wild then others. Jonas and Jember are quite the pair. And when they are not teasing and tormenting each other, they are plotting together for their next caper. They are quite the dynamic duo. The most suspicious sound in our household is silence. Beware (oh beware!) of the all too quiet room. The "oh-oh" moment when one realizes that the children have slipped to the back of the apartment. And they are just a little too quiet for comfort.

Sigh.

I call them the "Calgon-take-me-away-moments". And let me tell you...some days there is just not enough bath bubbles in the world...

And now...a few random shots of our little imps:

The Great Bathroom Caper

Caught in the act, making toilet paper sculptures.

Trying to dispose of the evidence.

"Toilet paper? What toilet paper?"

Has Anybody Seen Mommies Purple Poncho?

"Hey. Who has been playing in the kitties water bowl?"

Hmmm. He looks suspicious to me!

"This Llama is FUNNY!"
Jember loves the Llama and tries to convince it to run. Hang on Jonas!
